Your driver takes you to the Hanoi Old Quarter for a walking tour and a taste of the city's most famous street dishes. Dinner at a local restaurant.

Breakfast at the hotel. City tour of the historic Ba Dinh district: visit Ba Dinh Square, where President Ho Chi Minh declared Vietnam's Independence on 2 September 1945, and Ho Chi Minh's Mausoleum (closed Mondays, Fridays, and throughout October and November; photo stop from outside). Continue to the One Pillar Pagoda, an ancient Buddhist pagoda built in the early 11th century during the reign of King Ly Thai Tong, its entire structure supported by a single pillar in the shape of a lotus blossom. Continue to Tran Quoc Pagoda.

Visit the Temple of Literature, Vietnam's first university. Continue to the Museum of Ethnography (open Tuesday, Thursday, Saturday, and Sunday). Stroll across the Huc Bridge and past the Ly Thai To Monument to Hoan Kiem Lake. Free time for shopping at Trang Tien Plaza or the Old Quarter and Dong Xuan Market. Optional relaxation at a massage or nail spa (at your own expense).
